Does massage alleviate pain?
Why does most massage training downplay the importance of the nervous system? When I place my hands on a client, sensory nerve endings are stimulated. Impulses travel through the nerves, up the spinal cord, and to the brain. This is where the impulses are distributed and the brain processes them.
Hormones, Massage and Meditation
Valentine's Day got me thinking about how beautifully stunning our bodies are in spite of all the ups and downs they go through, the powerful impact that hormones have right down to every single cell throughout our body and the habits we form that will support (or hinder) us by stimulating these natural hormones.
I recently found this photo
I know I'm not the only one to look back at old photos of myself and say things like 😮 "Back then, I thought I was ugly...or fat...or old...but jeez, I was lovely!" If only we could talk to our younger self and say the same we say to our friends and our children "Hey you! Get a grip, you are awesome"
We will let go of pain when we are ready, when we are comfortable. We are not just physical beings and our brains are in control of and will decide to hold on to or let go of our pain. Our body may well be hurting, but it is responding in this particular way for a reason. Pain is a signal something is wrong.
Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication - Leonardo da Vinci
Simplicity has power, beauty and potency. At the Mastery level of No Hands Massage training, we are encouraged to keep a massage session really, really simple. I have learned we don't need to over complicate massage. The emphasis is placed upon using a very limited number of strokes in the most potent and effective way possible.
Being A Client.
Getting a regular treatment is key to effective, beneficial massage. As well as building up knowledge and awareness of yourself and what you need to gain or let go of, If you can learn to switch off, then you are in a zone of utter trust, comfort and relaxation where your body and mind are embracing the session. There’s lots of evidence regarding the benefits of the pain releasing, immunity and happy hormones released in this state.
How to avoid burnout.

It can get really hectic and if we keep jumping through hoops, our confidence can take a hammering, our bodies get more and more depleted and before we know it, we are in a pretty bad place. So. What can we do to make sure we don't hit burnout out?
